Marketing or Sales?

Quite often I have heard the terms sales and marketing used interchangeably. In actuality, the two terms are quite different.

In a nutshell - marketing is typically viewed as an activity pursued from the customer's persepctive; sales is typically viewed as an activity pursued from the company or organization's perspective

Targeted, focused marketing is used to generate interest and help create a pipeline to keep the sales folks pursuing and earning the customer's business.
